Known Lag Problems

These problems are reported by real players. If your region or ISP is listed, a network optimizer is likely to help.

South America

  • Players in Brazil, Argentina, and Chile on the America server may experience 80-150ms ping depending on ISP peering with Alibaba Cloud US infrastructure. Some South American ISPs route traffic suboptimally to US West coast servers.

Southeast Asia

  • Players in Philippines, Indonesia, Vietnam on the Asia server may experience ISP-dependent routing issues to Alibaba Cloud Singapore/HK nodes. PLDT (Philippines) and some Indonesian ISPs have historically poor peering with Alibaba infrastructure.

Middle East

  • Players in Turkey, Saudi Arabia, UAE have no dedicated ZZZ server and must choose between Europe or Asia. Europe typically gives better results from Turkey/Eastern EU, while Asia may serve Gulf region players better.

Eastern Europe

  • Players in Russia, Ukraine, Kazakhstan using the Europe server may experience 80-120ms+ ping depending on ISP routing quality to Alibaba Cloud European infrastructure.

Africa

  • No dedicated African server. African players must use the Europe server, typically resulting in 100-250ms+ ping depending on country and ISP. This is a structural limitation — PingAim can improve routing but cannot overcome physical distance.

How to Fix It

Try these first — they're free and solve the problem for most people.

01 Confirm you are on the correct server region

1. On the Zenless Zone Zero login screen, check the server displayed next to your account name 2. Compare it to your physical location: America, Europe, Asia, or TW/HK/MO 3. If your server does not match your region, you will always have high ping — there is no way to migrate an account 4. To fix permanently: create a new account on the correct server

Wrong server is the single most common cause of high ping in ZZZ. Switching to the correct server typically removes 100-300ms of geographic latency that no client-side tool can fix.

02 Switch to wired Ethernet

1. Connect your PC to your router using an Ethernet cable 2. Open Windows Settings > Network & Internet 3. Click on WiFi and disable it if Ethernet is connected, to prevent Windows from switching 4. Relaunch the game and check ping again

Eliminates WiFi latency (2-10ms) and removes wireless packet loss. High-priority fix for 2.4GHz WiFi users.

General network tips (not Zenless Zone Zero-specific)
03 Check your connection using Windows Resource Monitor

1. Launch Zenless Zone Zero and enter the game world 2. Alt-Tab to desktop and open Resource Monitor (search 'resmon' in Start menu) 3. Go to the Network tab 4. Check the box next to ZenlessZoneZero.exe 5. In the TCP Connections panel below, look at the Latency column for your connection to HoYoverse servers 6. Below 80ms = good. 80-130ms = playable. Above 130ms = investigate your connection.

ZZZ does not have a confirmed built-in ping display. Resource Monitor shows your actual latency to game servers.

04 Flush DNS and reset your network connection

1. Open Command Prompt as Administrator (search 'cmd', right-click > Run as administrator) 2. Run: ipconfig /flushdns 3. Run: netsh winsock reset 4. Restart your PC 5. Relaunch HoYoPlay and ZZZ

Clears stale DNS entries and resets corrupted network state. Fixes sudden ping increases and login errors.

05 Close bandwidth-heavy apps before co-op

1. Before starting a co-op session, open Task Manager (Ctrl+Shift+Esc) 2. Click the Network column to sort by network usage 3. Close or pause: Windows Update, cloud sync (OneDrive/Dropbox), streaming apps, torrents 4. Launch ZZZ and check ping

Prevents other applications from competing for bandwidth during co-op, which can otherwise cause bufferbloat-induced ping spikes.

06 Verify your server region matches your geography

Your server is locked at account creation. If you created your account on the wrong region (e.g., Asia instead of America), your ping will always be high. You cannot transfer accounts — you would need to start a new account on the correct server.

Wrong server is the most common cause of chronically high ping in ZZZ. Fixing this is the single biggest improvement possible.

Still lagging? The problem is likely your ISP's routing to the game servers.

PingAim detects Zenless Zone Zero automatically

No manual config. PingAim identifies Zenless Zone Zero by process name and routes it through your fastest connection using a kernel-level WFP driver.
