How to Fix Lag

Try these first — they're free and solve the problem for most people.

01 Check your ping to Soulframe servers

1. While in-game, open the main menu (Esc) and look through Options for a 'Show Ping', 'Show FPS', or 'Network Stats' toggle — Warframe (same engine) exposes ping this way 2. If no toggle exists in the current Preludes build, try typing /ping in the in-game chat window (works in Warframe on the same IRC-based chat system) 3. If neither method works in the current pre-alpha build, use Windows Resource Monitor (resmon.exe > Network tab) to monitor latency to Soulframe's server IPs while playing

Shows your current ping to the Soulframe servers. Note: the /ping command and HUD toggle are unverified for Soulframe's pre-alpha as of April 2026 — they are expected based on Warframe precedent but may not be implemented yet.

02 Use a wired Ethernet connection instead of WiFi

1. Connect your PC directly to your router with an Ethernet cable 2. In Windows Settings > Network & Internet, verify the wired adapter is connected 3. Disable WiFi after confirming Ethernet works (to prevent Windows from using both) 4. Relaunch Soulframe

WiFi introduces jitter (variable ping) that is particularly noticeable during multi-player dungeon fights. A wired connection gives stable, consistent latency — often a bigger improvement than reducing ping by 10ms.

General network tips (not Soulframe-specific)
03 Enable UPnP or forward ports manually

1. Open your router admin panel (usually 192.168.1.1 or 192.168.0.1) 2. Enable UPnP (Universal Plug and Play) if available 3. If UPnP is disabled or unavailable, manually forward: UDP 4960 and UDP 4965 to your PC's local IP 4. Also forward TCP 6695-6699 for in-game chat 5. Restart Soulframe and check if chat and matchmaking improve

Soulframe requires these ports to connect to dedicated servers and to match with other players. Blocked ports cause connection errors, failed invites, and inability to join co-op dungeons.

04 Close bandwidth-heavy applications before a dungeon run

1. Close any active downloads (Steam, Windows Update, game updates) 2. Pause cloud backup services (OneDrive, Google Drive, Dropbox) 3. Ask others on your network to pause streaming during your dungeon session 4. Check Task Manager > Performance > Ethernet/WiFi for current bandwidth usage

Background bandwidth usage during active gameplay causes latency spikes and packet loss. Soulframe's long dungeon sessions are especially punishing when a download suddenly kicks in mid-boss fight.

Regions with good connectivity

Players in these regions likely won't benefit much from a network optimizer.

  • North America — Canada/USA East servers, well-served for NA players
  • Western Europe — Netherlands/France servers, good coverage for EU players

Still lagging? The problem is likely your ISP's routing to the game servers.

PingAim detects Soulframe automatically

No manual config. PingAim identifies Soulframe by process name and routes it through your fastest connection using a kernel-level WFP driver.
