Lineage 2 FAQ — Ping, Servers, Network

Does PingAim work with Lineage 2? Why is my Lineage 2 ping so high?

MMO Free to Play NCSoft, 2003
Does PingAim work with Lineage 2?

Yes. PingAim uses a kernel-level WFP driver to route Lineage 2 traffic through your chosen network interface. This operates below nProtect GameGuard's detection scope — GameGuard monitors the l2.exe process at user level, not the network driver stack. PingAim does not modify game files, inject code, or interfere with GameGuard in any way. You target l2.exe in PingAim, and all game traffic is routed through your selected connection.

Why is my Lineage 2 ping so high?

High ping in Lineage 2 is usually caused by geographic distance from the server (cross-region play is very common), suboptimal ISP routing paths, or a congested household connection. The game uses TCP, which is more sensitive to routing inefficiencies than UDP — a suboptimal path that adds 50ms round-trip has a bigger impact than in UDP games because TCP retransmissions compound the delay. Using a second network connection with better ISP peering to your game server region is the most effective fix.

Lineage 2 keeps disconnecting — how to fix?

Random disconnects in Lineage 2 are most often caused by GameGuard conflicts (especially with antivirus software), router NAT timeouts on idle TCP connections, or ISP-level packet loss. First, add your Lineage 2 folder to your antivirus exclusions. Second, check if your router has a 'TCP timeout' or 'idle connection timeout' setting — some routers drop idle gaming TCP connections after 60-120 seconds. Third, test your connection stability with a prolonged ping test to the game server IP.

Which Lineage 2 server region should I choose?

Choose the region geographically closest to you for the lowest baseline ping. North America (lineage2.com) for NA players, Europe (eu.4game.com) for EU players, and regional operators for Russia, Brazil, and Southeast Asia. Many players deliberately play on servers in other regions to be with their guild or community — in that case, a second network connection with better international ISP routing (via PingAim) helps significantly.

Does Lineage 2 still have players in 2026?

Yes. Lineage 2 continues to operate across multiple regional servers in North America, Europe, Korea, Russia, Brazil, and Southeast Asia. The Essence version (a reworked, more accessible client) has attracted new players alongside the classic chronicle servers. A massive ecosystem of private servers (L2J, L2Off) also maintains player populations for older chronicle versions like Interlude, High Five, and Gracia.

PingAim detects Lineage 2 automatically

No manual config. PingAim identifies Lineage 2 by process name and routes it through your fastest connection using a kernel-level WFP driver.
