Genshin Impact
Got a phone and WiFi? Genshin needs a constant server connection even in solo play. PingAim sends GenshinImpact.exe through whichever interface — 5G hotspot, Ethernet, WiFi — has the lower ping to HoYoverse's servers, so dodge inputs register and co-op partners stop teleporting.

Why ping matters in Genshin Impact
Latency sensitivity MediumPing matters but is not the dominant factor.
Genshin Impact is a PvE-focused open-world RPG with no competitive multiplayer. Co-op allows up to 4 players but is used mainly for bosses and domains (dungeons), not competitive play. Combat relies on timed button presses for skill combos and dodge timing, but the game does not punish high latency as severely as FPS games. At 100ms+ (the sub-100ms QoE threshold per Henderson & Bhatti 2003 FPS study, extrapolated here to action-RPG dodge windows), players experience delayed skill activations, rubber-banding of co-op partners, and occasional desync on enemy positions. However, most content is completable at 150-200ms. Spiral Abyss (the hardest PvE content) is solo and timed — here lower latency measurably helps with precise dodge timing and burst window execution.
About Genshin Impactbackground, studio, esports scene
Genshin Impact is a free-to-play open-world action RPG developed and published by HoYoverse (miHoYo), released globally on September 28, 2020. Set in the fantasy world of Teyvat, players control a Traveler who journeys across seven nations to find their lost sibling. The game features real-time combat using a party of up to four characters, each with unique elemental abilities. Combat depth comes from the Elemental Reaction system, where combining different elements (Pyro, Hydro, Electro, Cryo, etc.) creates chain reactions that multiply damage. Progression relies on both exploration and a gacha system for obtaining new characters and weapons.
The game uses a persistent online connection for all modes, including solo play. Co-op supports up to four players in the same open world, though it is limited in scope — players cannot progress through story quests in co-op. Server infrastructure is divided into four regions: America (US East), Europe (Frankfurt), Asia (likely Tokyo/Singapore area), and TW/HK/MO. All regions use dedicated servers hosted primarily on Alibaba Cloud. HoYoverse's custom kernel-level anti-cheat — originally mhyprot2, later replaced by HoYoProtect (ACE) — runs continuously while the game is open. The game is available via the HoYoPlay launcher (official) and the Epic Games Store, but not on Steam.

PingAim detects Genshin Impact automatically
No manual config. PingAim identifies Genshin Impact by process name and routes it through your fastest connection using a kernel-level WFP driver.
When does PingAim help — and when doesn't it?
PingAim helps when...
- Phone on 5G tethering available — PingAim sends game traffic through 5G if it has a better path to HoYoverse's server
- WiFi and Ethernet both active — PingAim picks whichever interface has lower ping to the regional HoYoverse server
- Separating downloads or streams from game traffic — prevents ping spikes during Spiral Abyss timed floors
- Congested home WiFi during peak hours — routes game traffic through a cleaner second interface
- Dual-WAN or office network — binds GenshinImpact.exe to the gaming-optimized uplink
- Windows choosing the wrong default interface — PingAim overrides for GenshinImpact.exe specifically
- Co-op rubber-banding caused by jitter from a congested primary connection
Won't help when...
- Only one internet connection available — no second interface to route through
- Already near the server with sub-50ms stable ping — no routing improvement possible
- HoYoverse server downtime or maintenance — routing cannot fix the server side
- FPS drops or game stuttering — GPU/CPU performance issues, not network
- HoYoProtect/ACE (driver names: hoyoprotect.sys, unifairy.sys, legacy mhyprot2.sys) is a kernel-level anti-cheat — use PingAim's signed WFP driver mode only and do NOT enable DLL-injection mode for GenshinImpact.exe; the kernel AC blocks injection and DLL-mode would risk a ban
