Elden Ring

Got a phone with 5G and a home WiFi connection? That's two paths to other players. PingAim routes Elden Ring through whichever has the cleaner route — so your summons connect and your invasions don't rubberband. Server map, port guide, and co-op tips included.

Does PingAim Help in Elden Ring?

Kernel-levelBlocks DLL injectionBlocks unsigned driversNetwork optimizers allowed

Elden Ring uses EasyAntiCheat (EAC), owned by Epic Games. EAC runs a kernel-level driver on Windows. The game uses start_protected_game.exe as the EAC launcher wrapper; the actual game process is eldenring.exe. Disabling EAC forces the game into offline-only mode — online play requires EAC to be active.

VPN and network optimizers

Bandai Namco and FromSoftware have not issued any policy against VPNs or network optimizers for Elden Ring. Using a VPN or network routing tool does not trigger EAC bans. The community widely uses VPNs to find co-op partners and manage P2P connection quality without reported bans.

Known software conflicts

  • EAC must be active for online play — disabling it locks the game to offline mode
  • Some antivirus software flags EAC kernel driver; whitelist eldenring.exe and EasyAntiCheat folder

Why ping matters in Elden Ring

Latency sensitivity High

Ping noticeably shapes the experience.

While Elden Ring is more forgiving than competitive FPS games, latency is crucial in PvP invasions and co-op boss fights — the host-authoritative P2P model means high ping to the host directly causes visible rubber-banding, delayed hit registration, and phantom attacks that land before animations complete. In PvP, high latency causes 'phantom hits' — attacks that visually miss but register as hits due to position desync between host and guest. For co-op, 150ms+ to the host makes summoning unreliable and boss fight coordination degraded. The lack of lag compensation makes raw connection quality to the session host the dominant factor in multiplayer experience quality.

About Elden Ringbackground, studio, esports scene

Elden Ring is an open-world action RPG developed by FromSoftware and published by Bandai Namco Entertainment, released on February 25, 2022. Created by Hidetaka Miyazaki in collaboration with fantasy novelist George R. R. Martin, who provided the world's lore and mythos, the game takes place in the Lands Between — a vast, interconnected open world populated by demigods, ancient evils, and environmental storytelling at FromSoftware's largest scale to date. Players choose from multiple character classes and pursue the role of the Tarnished, seeking to restore the Elden Ring and become Elden Lord. With over 100 hours of content, dozens of legacy dungeons, and a punishing but fair combat system, the game became a cultural phenomenon upon release.

Elden Ring uses a peer-to-peer multiplayer architecture inherited from FromSoftware's Dark Souls lineage. Players can leave messages, summon cooperators, or invade other players' worlds using in-game consumables. The multiplayer system relies on Bandai Namco's matchmaking servers for session brokering, but actual gameplay traffic runs P2P between players — the host's connection quality directly determines the experience for everyone in the session. The game shipped with EasyAntiCheat (EAC) on PC. The Shadow of the Erdtree DLC, released June 2024, expanded the game with a massive new region and sold over 10 million copies. A standalone co-op spinoff, Elden Ring Nightreign, launched in May 2025 with a 3-player co-op roguelite format and similarly uses P2P architecture.

Elden Ring reached 30 million copies sold ahead of Nightreign's release, making it one of the best-selling action RPGs of all time. It received widespread critical acclaim (96/100 Metacritic) and won numerous Game of the Year awards for 2022. The game's community remains highly active across Reddit (r/Eldenring, 5M+ members), Steam, and dedicated wikis, with ongoing discussion of PvP builds, co-op strategies, and network connectivity challenges inherent to the P2P multiplayer design.

PingAim detects Elden Ring automatically

No manual config. PingAim identifies Elden Ring by process name and routes it through your fastest connection using a kernel-level WFP driver.

When does PingAim help — and when doesn't it?

PingAim helps when...

  • You have a phone with 5G/LTE — tether via USB and route Elden Ring through it for a potentially cleaner path to other players
  • Your WiFi is congested while you're trying to host a co-op session — route the game through Ethernet or tethering
  • You have two ISPs or a dual-WAN router and one consistently has better routing to your usual play region
  • You stream or download while playing — separate Elden Ring traffic from your stream/download connection so neither is throttled
  • Windows picks the wrong interface for the game and you want explicit per-app control

Won't help when...

  • P2P limitation: if both you and the host are well-connected with good ISP routing between you, a second connection won't improve the path — the bottleneck is the ISP routing between players, not your local bandwidth
  • You only have one network connection with no way to add a second
  • Lag caused by the session host's own poor connection — you can't fix the host's side
  • FPS drops, stuttering, or crashes — these are CPU/GPU issues, not network
  • Invasion rubberbanding caused by the invader's ping — PingAim only controls your own routing
