Does PingAim work with Albion Online?
Yes. PingAim uses a WFP (Windows Filtering Platform) kernel driver to attach Albion-Online.exe to the network adapter you choose. It works at the Windows network layer without touching the game process, which is the side BattlEye monitors. When you have a phone hotspot, a second ISP line, or any second network adapter, PingAim routes Albion through that interface — your traffic still goes directly to Sandbox Interactive's Photon servers in Washington D.C., Europe, or Singapore. PingAim is not a relay or tunnel; it is per-app interface selection.
Why does my ping matter in Albion Online?
Albion Online has no client-side prediction for combat and no lag compensation. When you press a skill key, the ability activates only after the server processes your input — that takes one full round-trip. At 30ms ping, the delay is barely perceptible. Above ~100ms, healers miss healing windows, damage combos break because targets move before crowd control lands, and kiting becomes unreliable (Raaen 2014 survey of latency thresholds in games). In organized GvG and ZvZ content, these delays cost fights. Sandbox Interactive has publicly acknowledged ISP routing issues degrade competitive play.
Which Albion Online server should I play on?
Choose the server geographically closest to you. Albion Americas (Washington D.C.) is best for North and South America. Albion Europe is best for EU and MENA players and launched in April 2024 with significantly better ping for European users. Albion East (Singapore) serves East Asia and Oceania. Characters do not transfer between servers — each server is a separate world with its own economy and guilds. Use /ping in-game to verify your connection quality after choosing.
Is Albion Online free to play?
Yes. Albion Online became free-to-play in 2019. The base game is free with no cost to create an account, access the open world, or participate in PvP. A premium subscription (sold for in-game silver or real money) increases resource yield, learning point gain, and travel speed — but is not required to play or compete. Players can earn enough silver in-game to buy premium without spending real money.
Does Albion Online use Easy Anti-Cheat?
No longer. Albion Online switched from Easy Anti-Cheat to BattlEye on July 19, 2023. BattlEye is now the active anti-cheat system, running a kernel-level driver (BEDaisy.sys) on Windows. The switch was primarily to address Albion's longstanding botting problem. PingAim's WFP driver method is compatible with BattlEye — it operates at the network stack level without process injection.
Why do my skills feel delayed even with 80ms ping in ZvZ?
In large ZvZ battles, two things happen simultaneously: your ping to the server and the server's own processing time. When hundreds of players cast abilities at once, the server queues all those events and processes them sequentially — this adds server-side delay on top of your network latency. The result is skills that feel sluggish even on a good connection. This server-side delay cannot be fixed with network optimization — it is a function of how many players are in the battle and the server's processing capacity. Network tools like PingAim help with your client-to-server latency, but not with the server's own execution queue.
