World of Tanks FAQ — Ping, Servers, Network

Does PingAim work with World of Tanks? Why do my shots miss in World of Tanks even when I aim perfectly?

Does PingAim work with World of Tanks?

Yes. PingAim auto-detects WorldOfTanks.exe and routes its traffic through your optimal network interface using a WFP kernel driver. It is fully compatible with Wargaming's custom anti-cheat — PingAim operates at the Windows network stack level and does not modify the game client in any way.

Why do my shots miss in World of Tanks even when I aim perfectly?

Some misses are pure RNG (accuracy bloom, dispersion mechanics). But if you're seeing shots pass through tanks or land slightly off despite good aim, high ping is likely involved. WoT computes all hits server-side using the server's tank positions — if your ping is 100ms+, the tank you aimed at has already moved 100ms worth of distance from where you saw it on screen. This is especially obvious on moving targets and peek-a-boo situations.

What is a good ping for World of Tanks?

Below 50ms is excellent — shot registration will be nearly perfect. 50-100ms is playable with occasional misregistration on fast-moving targets or peek-a-boo shots. Above 100ms, you'll notice consistent issues on dynamic engagements. Above 150ms, competitive play becomes frustrating, especially when fighting against faster medium tanks.

Will using a VPN or network optimizer get me banned in World of Tanks?

No bans have been reported for using network optimizers (WTFast, ExitLag, GearUpBooster, NoPing, LagoFast) with World of Tanks. Wargaming's Fair Play Policy targets gameplay-modifying cheats and prohibited mods — not network routing tools. WTFast officially lists World of Tanks as a supported game.

Why is my ping higher on the EU server than expected?

The EU servers are located in Amsterdam (EU1), Luxembourg (EU2), and Frankfurt (EU4-EU6). If you're in Eastern Europe or CIS and getting unexpectedly high ping, it's often an ISP routing problem rather than geographic distance. Your ISP may be routing traffic through additional hops or through less optimal paths before reaching Wargaming's datacenters. Running WinMTR to the server will show you exactly where the delay is occurring.

Can I play on a different region's server?

You can create separate accounts on EU, NA, and ASIA servers, but your tanks, credits, and XP are not shared between regions. There is no cross-region matchmaking. Accounts can be transferred between regions with limitations through Wargaming's official account transfer service.

PingAim detects World of Tanks automatically

No manual config. PingAim identifies World of Tanks by process name and routes it through your fastest connection using a kernel-level WFP driver.
