Guild Wars 2 FAQ — Ping, Servers, Network

Does PingAim work with Guild Wars 2? Why is my ping high in GW2 even with fast internet?

Does PingAim work with Guild Wars 2?

Yes. PingAim auto-detects Gw2-64.exe and routes its traffic through your optimal network interface using a WFP kernel driver. It does not change your IP address or inject into the game process, so it does not trigger ArenaNet's account security system. It is fully safe to use.

Why is my ping high in GW2 even with fast internet?

Internet speed (download/upload bandwidth) and ping (latency) are different things. GW2 connects directly to AWS datacenters — your ISP's routing to AWS us-east-1 (NA) or eu-central-1 (EU) determines your ping. A 1 Gbps connection with poor ISP-to-AWS routing will have higher ping than a 50 Mbps connection with good peering. This is the routing problem PingAim addresses.

What is WvW skill lag and can PingAim fix it?

WvW skill lag is a server-side phenomenon where ArenaNet's servers become overloaded during large zerg vs. zerg fights (50+ players per side), causing skills to queue but not execute for 2–10 seconds. This is a server compute problem, not a network problem — PingAim cannot fix it. However, PingAim can reduce your base latency so that when the server recovers between fights, your skills respond faster.

Can I get banned for using ExitLag or WTFast with GW2?

Not banned, but you may get a temporary account lockout. ArenaNet's fraud detection triggers when many accounts suddenly share the same IP (common with shared VPN exit nodes like WTFast). This is not an anti-cheat ban — submit a support ticket and it will be resolved. PingAim does not change your exit IP, so it does not have this problem.

Is there a GW2 server in Asia or Australia?

No. Guild Wars 2 only has two Western servers — NA (Virginia, USA) and EU (Frankfurt, Germany). SEA, Oceania, and Asia-Pacific players must connect to NA or EU, resulting in 200–350ms ping from those regions. There is a separate China server operated by NCSoft, but it requires a separate Chinese account and client.

What is a good ping for Guild Wars 2?

Below 80ms is excellent for all content including competitive WvW. 80–150ms is fully playable for PvE and casual WvW. Above 150ms you will notice skill activation delays in WvW fights. Above 250ms makes WvW and sPvP difficult. Note: WvW skill lag from server overload happens regardless of your ping during large fights.

PingAim detects Guild Wars 2 automatically

No manual config. PingAim identifies Guild Wars 2 by process name and routes it through your fastest connection using a kernel-level WFP driver.
