Forza Horizon 5
Got a phone and WiFi? That's two connections. PingAim routes Forza Horizon 5 through whichever has the lowest ping to Azure — while everything else stays on your default network. In Horizon Open competitive races, lower ping means smoother opponent positions and fewer collision surprises.

Why ping matters in Forza Horizon 5
Latency sensitivity MediumPing matters but is not the dominant factor.
Forza Horizon 5 is an arcade racer with forgiving physics — not a precision sim. Client-side physics prediction means your own car feels responsive regardless of ping. High latency primarily shows as: (1) other players' cars rubberbanding/teleporting in freeroam, (2) lag in competitive races causing position desync, (3) delayed responses in the Horizon Life session. Unlike FPS games, a 100ms ping is playable for most content. Competitive Horizon Tour races are more sensitive but still not at the level of FPS/MOBA. The most impactful networking problem in FH5 is the Teredo/NAT issue (which prevents connecting at all), not raw latency.
About Forza Horizon 5background, studio, esports scene
Forza Horizon 5 is an open-world arcade racing game developed by Playground Games and published by Xbox Game Studios, released on November 9, 2021. The game is set in a fictional representation of Mexico, featuring the largest and most diverse open world in Forza Horizon history — spanning living deserts, dense jungles, historic cities, ancient ruins, pristine beaches, vast canyons, and a snow-capped volcano (Volcán de Agua Negra) that marks the highest point ever in a Horizon game.
The game runs on Playground Games' proprietary ForzaTech engine and features over 800 cars from launch, with ongoing content additions through seasonal events, expansions, and the Festival Playlist. Online multiplayer includes open-world Horizon Life freeroam sessions with up to ~72 players sharing a world, competitive Horizon Open races, ranked Horizon Tour, and the social EventLab mode.
Forza Horizon 5 uses Microsoft Azure and Xbox Live infrastructure for all online services, and Xbox Live sign-in is mandatory even when playing through Steam. The hybrid connection model uses dedicated servers for competitive matchmaking and P2P (through Xbox Live / Teredo) for freeroam session hosting. Teredo — Microsoft's IPv6-over-IPv4 tunneling protocol used by Xbox Live — is a frequent source of connectivity issues on PC, especially when third-party VPNs, firewalls, or ISPs block UDP port 3544.

PingAim detects Forza Horizon 5 automatically
No manual config. PingAim identifies Forza Horizon 5 by process name and routes it through your fastest connection using a kernel-level WFP driver.
When does PingAim help — and when doesn't it?
PingAim helps when...
- You have a phone with 5G/LTE — tether via USB for a dedicated gaming connection
- You have both WiFi and Ethernet — route FH5 through the faster one
- You stream races — separate game and OBS traffic across connections
- Your WiFi is congested at peak hours — bypass it by routing game traffic over 5G tethering
- You have two ISPs or a dual-WAN router
- Windows picks the wrong interface for FH5 and you want explicit control
- Evening congestion causes ping spikes during Horizon Open competitive races
Won't help when...
- You only have one network connection with no way to add a second
- Your only connection is already fast and stable (under 40ms, no jitter)
- Teredo is unable to qualify — this is an Xbox Live/NAT issue, not a routing issue PingAim can fix
- Strict NAT preventing session joins — requires router/firewall reconfiguration
- Xbox Live servers are down — check xbox.com/en-US/xbox-live-status
- Game servers under high load (server-side lag during events/seasonal launches)
- FPS drops or shader compilation stutters — not network related
- P2P freeroam sessions — session quality depends on the host player's connection, not just yours
