Known Lag Problems

These problems are reported by real players. If your region or ISP is listed, a network optimizer is likely to help.

Southeast Asia (Philippines)

60–200ms to SEA (Singapore) server
  • PLDT routes Philippine traffic through suboptimal international paths to Singapore, adding 50–150ms on top of geographic latency
  • Philippine players often see 100–200ms to SEA server despite geographic proximity to Singapore
  • No dedicated Philippines server — SEA (Singapore) is the closest option
  • Some Philippine ISPs route to US East for better throughput, resulting in 180–250ms ping
Affected ISPs: PLDTConverge ICT

North Africa / Eastern Mediterranean

40–120ms to Middle East or Europe server depending on routing
  • Middle East server was added in Patch 7.00 (October 2022) — players in the core Middle East (UAE, Saudi Arabia) now have a dedicated server
  • Players in Egypt and Turkey may still see 60–120ms depending on whether they connect to Middle East or Europe server
  • North African players (Egypt, Libya) are between the Europe and Middle East servers with suboptimal routing to both

Oceania (New Zealand)

30–70ms to Australia server, 150–200ms to SEA
  • Australia server is the closest option but New Zealand players see 20–40ms higher ping than Australian players due to trans-Tasman cable latency
  • Low server population in Australia means cross-region matching with SEA is common, adding 100–150ms
  • Peak hours see queue times in Australia extend to 5–10 minutes, pushing players to accept cross-region matches
Affected ISPs: Spark NZ2degrees

South/Central America (outside Brazil)

60–180ms to Brazil server depending on country
  • Brazil server is South America's only option — players in Colombia, Peru, Argentina, and Chile see 60–150ms
  • Players in Argentina and Chile often see 100–130ms to the Brazil server due to routing through São Paulo
  • Colombian and Venezuelan players frequently report 120–180ms due to routing through US East before reaching Brazil
  • No dedicated server for non-Brazil South American countries

How to Fix It

Try these first — they're free and solve the problem for most people.

01 Switch from WiFi to wired Ethernet

1. Connect an Ethernet cable from your PC or laptop to your router 2. Go to Windows Settings > Network & Internet > WiFi 3. Toggle WiFi off to prevent Windows from routing game traffic over wireless 4. Relaunch Brawlhalla and re-run the ping test to your region 5. Compare ping stability — wireless ping typically varies ±10–30ms; wired should be ±1–3ms

Eliminates wireless jitter that causes rollback artifacts and can push average ping above the 47ms threshold during congested moments.

General network tips (not Brawlhalla-specific)
02 Test your actual ping to each Brawlhalla server region

1. Open Command Prompt (Win+R, type cmd, press Enter) 2. Run: ping pingtest-atl.brawlhalla.com -n 20 3. Note the average ping 4. Repeat for your region: pingtest-cal.brawlhalla.com (US West), pingtest-ams.brawlhalla.com (Europe), pingtest-sgp.brawlhalla.com (SEA), pingtest-aus.brawlhalla.com (Australia) 5. The region with the lowest average ping is your optimal server 6. If that region's ping is above 47ms, your routing is a problem that PingAim can address

Confirms your actual server latency and identifies whether you are above or below the 47ms input-delay threshold. Essential first diagnostic step.

03 Manually set your region to the closest server

1. Launch Brawlhalla 2. Click Options (gear icon) from the main menu 3. Select 'Change Region' 4. Set your primary region to the one with the smallest measured ping from your diagnostic test 5. Remove backup regions if you want to ensure you always connect to that server 6. Queue a training session to confirm your in-game ping

Brawlhalla's matchmaker does not always pick the geographically closest region — it balances by population. Manually pinning the closest server eliminates the case where you are matched to a distant region for queue-time reasons.

04 Flush DNS and reset TCP/IP stack

1. Open Command Prompt as Administrator (right-click Start > Terminal (Admin)) 2. Run: ipconfig /flushdns 3. Run: netsh winsock reset 4. Run: netsh int ip reset 5. Restart your PC 6. After restart, re-test ping to Brawlhalla servers

Fixes stale routing tables and corrupted network state that can cause sudden persistent high-ping sessions. Particularly effective when ping is bad on one day but was fine before.

Still lagging? The problem is likely your ISP's routing to the game servers.

PingAim detects Brawlhalla automatically

No manual config. PingAim identifies Brawlhalla by process name and routes it through your fastest connection using a kernel-level WFP driver.
