Known Lag Problems

These problems are reported by real players. If your region or ISP is listed, a network optimizer is likely to help.

Thailand — evening peak hours

20-150ms depending on ISP, time of day, and location
  • Evening congestion on Thai fixed-line ISPs (7-11 PM) causes ping spikes to the Bangkok Garena server
  • Players in northern provinces (Chiang Mai, Chiang Rai) have higher baseline ping than Bangkok players
  • 4G mobile routing often provides more stable connection to Garena servers than home broadband during peak hours
Affected ISPs: AISTrue Move HDTAC

Philippines — MSP server

60-150ms to Singapore
  • Philippine players share the Malaysia/Singapore/Philippines (MSP) server hosted in Singapore
  • Globe and PLDT routing to Singapore adds 60-130ms baseline depending on peering quality
  • Peak hours add 30-50ms on top of baseline due to shared submarine cable capacity
Affected ISPs: Globe TelecomPLDT

Vietnam

20-80ms local; 80-250ms overseas connecting
  • ISP routing disruptions cause occasional cross-ISP lag spikes for local players
  • Overseas players (Japan, Korea) connecting to Vietnam server face significant physical-distance latency
  • Players in Hanoi vs. Ho Chi Minh City may see 10-30ms difference depending on server location
Affected ISPs: ViettelVNPTFPT

What players commonly report

  • Ping spikes during evening peak hours in Thailand and Vietnam
  • Philippine players on MSP server getting 80-130ms baseline ping to Singapore
  • GameLoop emulator adding input delay on top of network latency
  • Server-side lag during major esports events (AWC, RPL matches)
  • Cross-server switching not available — new account required for a different region

How to Fix It

Try these first — they're free and solve the problem for most people.

01 Close background apps consuming bandwidth

1. On mobile: swipe up in recent apps and close all background apps 2. Disable auto-updates: Settings > Google Play Store or App Store > turn off auto-update over mobile or WiFi 3. Pause active downloads (cloud sync, LINE updates, music streaming, YouTube in background) 4. On PC with GameLoop: open Task Manager (Ctrl+Shift+Esc), sort by Network column, close bandwidth-heavy processes 5. Re-enter a match and check if ping stabilized

Mobile connections have limited bandwidth — a LINE update or TikTok streaming in the background can spike gaming ping from 50ms to 200ms+. Closing all non-essential apps before queuing is essential.

02 Use Ethernet instead of WiFi for GameLoop on PC

1. Connect your PC to your router with an Ethernet cable 2. In Windows Settings > Network & Internet, confirm the Ethernet adapter shows as Connected 3. Open GameLoop and launch Arena of Valor 4. Check ping via the in-game signal icon and compare to your previous WiFi readings

Eliminates WiFi jitter and reduces latency by 2-15ms. Particularly useful for GameLoop users — the emulator adds processing overhead, so starting with a stable wired connection reduces total input delay.

General network tips (not Arena of Valor-specific)
03 Check your ping using the in-game network icon

1. Launch a match in Arena of Valor 2. Look at the top area of the screen — there is a WiFi/signal icon visible during matches 3. Observe or tap the icon to see your current ping in milliseconds 4. Watch how ping changes during active team fights vs. idle phases in base 5. If ping spikes during fights but is low otherwise, network congestion is the likely cause 6. If ping is consistently high, the issue is your route to the Garena/Tencent regional server

Essential first step — tells you your actual ping before trying any fix. Under 60ms is smooth play, 60-100ms is playable with some delays, over 100ms causes visible skill input lag.

04 Switch to mobile data during peak evening hours

1. On your phone or tablet, disable WiFi and enable mobile data (4G/5G) 2. Launch a practice match and observe the ping indicator 3. Switch back to WiFi and compare the values 4. Use whichever gives lower, more stable ping 5. If on PC with GameLoop: tether your phone via USB cable, then use PingAim to route aow_exe.exe through the mobile connection while other apps stay on WiFi

In Thailand and Vietnam, 4G/5G often routes more directly to Garena's regional servers than home broadband during evening peak hours (7-11 PM). This is the most impactful fix for many SEA players who have both WiFi and mobile available.

05 Verify you are on the correct regional server

1. Open Arena of Valor and go to your Profile 2. Tap the Settings icon next to your profile photo 3. Select the Region tab 4. Confirm the active server matches your location (Thailand → Thailand server; Philippines → Garena MSP server; Vietnam → Vietnam server) 5. If wrong, select your correct region and re-log 6. Queue for a match and check ping

Playing on the wrong regional server adds 50-200ms to your ping. A Thai player accidentally on the Asia server sees 60ms+ instead of 20-30ms on the Thailand server. Always confirm your region before ranking.

Regions with good connectivity

Players in these regions likely won't benefit much from a network optimizer.

  • Bangkok and central Thailand — The Garena Thailand (RoV) server is located in Bangkok. Players in Bangkok get sub-30ms on a stable connection during off-peak hours.
  • Ho Chi Minh City area, Vietnam — Players near the Vietnam Garena server location get sub-30ms ping on stable connections during off-peak hours.

Still lagging? The problem is likely your ISP's routing to the game servers.

PingAim detects Arena of Valor automatically

No manual config. PingAim identifies Arena of Valor by process name and routes it through your fastest connection using a kernel-level WFP driver.
