Epic Games announced testing of 60Hz server tick rate in Fortnite’s competitive playlists, doubling the current 30Hz rate.
What This Means
- Server updates player positions twice as often (every 16.7ms instead of 33.3ms)
- Hit registration becomes more precise
- Build and edit timing feels more responsive
The Catch
Higher tick rate means more packets per second. Players with unstable connections may experience more noticeable rubber-banding if packets are lost, because the game expects more frequent updates.
For PingAim Users
This makes network stability more important than raw ping. PingAim’s per-app routing helps ensure your Fortnite traffic takes the most stable path, not just the fastest one.
